Millie’s Garden Party

I’ve been meaning to blog about this for a while to share some of the photos of Millie’s fantastic day! We didn’t want to have Millie christened as we don’t go to church, but we still wanted to get friends and family together for a party.

The result was a champagne afternoon tea garden party, which sadly given the awful British summer weather, became a house party hosted by Tom’s parents. Nonetheless we had a lovely day: A team of avid bakers donned their aprons to bake up a storm, including brownies, scones, cupcakes, chocolate cake, lemon cake, cookies and more….

….especially a fantastic celebration cake made by Zoe Biscombe. Bunting and balloons adorned the house, along with arrangements of beautiful yellow roses from my mum’s garden.

Cava corks were popped and around 40 guests braved the weather to eat, drink and take their turn at bouncing the baby! It was a lovely mingling of both sides of the family and friends and so nice to feel so loved and supported at this exciting and challenging time of our lives!

A day for a Garden party

Last weekend we went to a lovely garden party at my mother-in-law’s. Luckily the unreliable summer weather was kind and stayed sunny for the occasion – the garden was decked out with bunting and filled full of friends having a good time. The theme was ‘afternoon tea’ and so there was a great array of homemade cakes to be marvelled at (see pics) and there was a good effort made by all to sample a piece of each! Some of the inspiration & recipes came from two really good cookbooks – ‘Bake me I’m yours…cupcake’ and ‘Afternoon tea parties’.

Tea Roses

Just thought I’d share a picture of the lovely pink roses in our garden. They were only planted about 8 weeks ago but thanks to the warm and wet weather they have flowered beautifully. They were from the lovely Rothwell Garden Centre.

Herbs & Flowers

It’s been a beautiful sunny day in Leeds today, so no excuse not to do something in the garden. Lovely garden centre near my house provided everything I needed to replenish my herbs (that the rabbits have eaten!) and to plant some bright flower pots. Have even managed to hang some washing out for the first time this year!
