I’ve been looking forward to this gig for ages, being a big fan of Little Boots from her Dead Disco days. Needless to say it was excellent – a bit of 80s synth pop extravaganza meets cool railway arch acoustics on a background of lava lamp style lighting! She even did a bit of improvisation with the Tenori-on, which seems like the coolest instrument ever. Tipped by the BBC as ‘sound of 2009′ I defy anyone to not feel happy and energised after listening to her music!

Ukuleles are the best 4 stringed guitar!
Went to see the Ukulele Orchestra of GB on Saturday. It was at the newly refurbished Crucible in Sheffield – very nice. Having only heard their music on CD before and seen them on the likes of Jools Holland, their stage presence was absolutely immense in the flesh! 7 people on 4-stringed guitars – witty, emotive, entertaining and awesome. (I found myself saying ‘wow’ a fair few times!) Best song: Wuthering Heights (Kate Bush) sung by chap in a tux, in a Yorkshire accent, in a swing style!
