What a great day! I’m usually not a great fan of Sundays but London on a Sunday has so many things going on. We decided to get up early and make the most of it, so here’s what we’ve been up to:
Brunch
An early start is essential at the Breakfast Club in Angel as within 1/2 hour of opening there wasn’t a spare seat! I’m not surprised because the food they were dishing out was fantastic – almost any type of breakfast item you could wish for. We had the ‘All American’ breakfast which came with the essential pancakes & maple syrup I’ve been craving. Washed down with a mango smoothie and a cup of Brew Ha Ha tea, even those eating for two were full and ready for a day of walking!
Sunday Up Market
For the wannabe hipster, the Sunday Up Market is the place to be and is full of hustle and bustle. There’s a whole collection of stalls offering printed t-shirts, handmade jewellery, music and specialist foods to name a few. There’s also loads of outdoor market stalls along Brick lane selling loads of second hand and vintage goods, as well as the nearby Spitalfields. It was a great atmosphere to wander the length of Brick lane and there was loads of other interesting stuff to see from the Indian shops & restaurants to some really elaborate grafitti.
Columbia Road Flower Market
Imagine a whole road dedicated to flower stalls – the colours and the smells were amazing, not to mention some pretty impressive heckling and haggling going on! You could buy great quality flowers, which all seemed to be taller and prettier than you can normally buy – or if you were feeling strong, there were plenty of trees to choose from too! We settled on some giant sunflowers, which I proudly carried wrapped in a big brown paper bundle all the way back to Aldgate East tube station with many admiring glances!
Time for a rest now before the Comedy Store tonight………..
