Harewood House

I spent a lovely day at Harewood House on Saturday, luckily with the nicest weather of the bank holiday weekend! My husband had arranged for me to borrow a friend’s digital SLR camera to play with for the day, which was great fun. Castle Howard – barmy baroqueness!

Took my mum to Castle Howard on Monday (ok, a day late for Mother’s Day – but I was working last Sunday!) I always question the motives of people who own stately homes opening them to the public – but it was done quite well. The ‘guides’ in each room certainly knew their stuff and volunteered something of interest without it being like a history lesson. Much respect to Lady Georgina (the 6th Countess of Carlisle) who managed to run the house accounts whilst bringing up 12 kids!!
